What Is The Throat Chakra?

The Throat Chakra, or Vishuddha, is our fifth energy hub among the 7 primary chakras in our body.

If you don’t know what the chakras are, click here for a brief overview.

It is located at the center of our throat and the color of this energy hub is blue. It is element of ether, which is the space in between space.

Located at the center of our throat, the throat chakra is the gateway to discovering and expressing our highest truth to the universe.

Physically, this chakra controls our neck, jaw, mouth, and face.On a deeper level, the throat chakra controls everything that has to do with personal expression. It controls how well we express our personal truth, communicate with others, and handle conflict.

A balanced throat chakra speaks our personal message with truth, compassion, and assertion. It is unafraid of communicating boundaries or expressing an opinion.

When The Throat Chakra Is Blocked

When the throat chakra is blocked, we feel insecure when expressing ourselves. We feel like we have to be quiet and are unsure of what we say when we speak, making us indecisive.

Physically, if we struggle with acne, it can be because of a blocked throat chakra. (Acne could also be because of a blocked sacral chakra.) Other physical symptoms of throat chakra imbalance are neck tension, teeth grinding, and a chronic sore throat.

2. Communicate Boundaries

I know, “easy peasy”, right? If you have been allowing yourself to be pushed around or settle for less than you deserve, now is the time to communicate those scary boundaries that need to be set. If it helps, I recommend writing them down first and repeating them out loud. Feel confident in what you are saying.

3. Use Throat Chakra Healing Crystals

An easy way to incorporate throat chakra healing is by simply holding crystals in meditation and throughout the day that heal the throat chakra. One of the best to use is Angelite.

5. Eat Foods For The Throat Chakra

Each chakra has corresponding foods that heal them. Foods for the throat chakra include ginger, blueberries, and tree fruits. Interesting fact, the reason tree fruits are considered throat chakra healers is because a fruit won’t fall off the tree until it is ready just as the throat chakra won’t speak until it is ready.

6. Tune In To Your Inner Wisdom

So how do you actually learn to listen to your inner wisdom? This is actually a very simple thing to learn.

This is a 4 step guide to tuning in to your inner wisdom…

How To Listen To Your Inner Wisdom
Tuning in to your inner wisdom is actually simpler than it sounds but it’s not as easy to actually practice. This is a 4 step guide…

1 // Silence

We first have to make space for our inner wisdom to show itself. We do this by regularly finding silence. Sit at the beach, in a quiet room, in nature, and do nothing. Think about whats bothering you for a moment, something that is on your mind, or a problem you don’t know how to deal with. Bring awareness to it and let it go. Let silence sink in with no distractions.

2 // Listen

Now your inner wisdom will start coming out of hiding. All you have to do is listen. What is it telling you? Is it giving you advice? Answers? Is it comforting you? Is it uncovering a truth?

3// Practice

It will be hard at first to hear your inner wisdom but, with repetition, you’ll be able to hear your inner voice with instantaneous ease. Practice sitting in silence and noticing your inner wisdom. See how fast you can hear it.

4// Speak

The final step is speaking your inner wisdom. When the time comes that you need your inner wisdom fast, you’ll be able to act in alignment with it.
