A Stressed Enneagram 1…
In stress, the enneagram 1 takes on the negative traits of the enneagram 4, The Individualist. The normally calm and orderly type 1 becomes hyper-critical and bitter. Instead of using their strong sense of idealism to create a better world, they become fixated on all the imperfections around them and aggressively try to fix them.
Another unknown sign of a 1 in stress can be impulsivity and irresponsibility, taking on the unhealthy aspects of the Enneagram 7!

What An Enneagram 1 Needs For Self Care.
So what do enneagram 1s need when it comes to self care?
First, a 1 needs to fulfill their core desire of order by organizing or upholding the harmony of the things that matter the most to them.
But the enneagram 1 also needs to embrace both their wings for their self care too. Self care for the enneagram 1s 2 wing means taking care of loved ones (including themselves) and finding peace and harmony for their 9 wing.
And to complete their self care practice, an enneagram 1 needs to embrace the heathy traits of their growth numbers.
Stepping into more creative expression (,embracing the enneagram 4,) and embracing childlike play (,taking on the enneagram 7,) is extremely important for the enneagram 1s self care.

1. Be Spontaneous
Embrace the healthy aspects of an enneagram 7, make time to be spontaneous! Schedule in your day of not planning if you need to but make time to think less and act on impulse. Take the day off of work, walk around, be curious, go into random coffee shops, experience newness and be open to new opportunities.
2. Embrace Imperfection
We love you for being the one who makes sure everything is perfect but we want to make sure that the tendency for perfection isn’t stressing you out. Invite friends over to try a new recipe, go for a run, try learning something new.

3. Journal
Types ones are known for suppressing their anger and can benefit a ton from journaling. Try to write in-depth about what you’re feeling every day as well as write down your victories! Chances are, you’ve done more than you give yourself credit for.

4. Create A Sleep Schedule
Being so on top of everything can be exhausting so create a sleep schedule that gives you the rest you need.
5. Quality Time With People You Love
Who do you feel best around? Spend time with people who make you feel appreciated for being you.
6. Release Expectations
Not just for other but for yourself too. Release expectations for a day and see how much calm you feel because of it.

7. Have A Calming Hobby
Type 1’s need hobbies or tasks that bring them peace of mind. What do you do that brings you a sense of zen? Maybe it’s gardening, maybe it’s yoga, maybe it’s reading. Whatever it is, make time for these things on a daily basis!
8. Heart Chakra Healing
Enneagram 1s generally struggle with a blocked heart chakra, they feel it’s unsafe to love, forgive, nurture, and be compassionate because they were taught “vulnerability is weakness.” Heart chakra healing is extremely beneficial for this enneagram type.

9. Refresh Your Morning Routine
Do you love your mornings type 1? Make your morning something you look forward to by cultivating a calming morning routine. Do something calming like a meditation or just watch the world go by with a cup of coffee.

10. Move Your Body
1s can benefit from daily movement to get their energy balanced and to get out of their heads. Whether its yoga, running, or Thai Chi, incorporate daily movement into your self care.
11. Be Creative
Embrace the healthy aspects of the type 4 and get into a creative flow! Creativity isn’t always painting if that’s not your thing. Creativity is the act of free-flowing creation. Movement can be creativity, building can be creativity, get creative with how you be creative.
12. Meditation
Meditation can be intimidating but there is no reason to be. It’s the best thing we can do for ourselves! When we sit in silence, we allow any deep rooted problems, emotions, thoughts, and more to come out of hiding to be healed.
13. Dance
Type 1, let loose and shun your inner critic! Be creative and expressive by dancing more often for your self care! Notice how you feel as you dance, you can dance with someone or go solo.
